The Chamber of Dreams
Published in Hardcover by The International Library of Poetry (27 September, 2000)
Author: Estelle Petri ed.
Average review score:

nice book
This is a great compolation of poetry. The authors from all over the world have put a lot of thought into their personal poems. There are some really great and touching poems. It is a good read. Especially the poems on page 189.

Poetry From the Heart
This is one of the finest volumes of "amateur" poetry I have had the pleasure of reading. These poets do not suffer from a lack of talent because they are considered amateurs. They are just now beginning to be discovered because of their talent. I especially enjoyed the insight of R. Yaist De Mareau to be found on page 104.

Clanbook: Giovanni

Authors: Greg Stolze, John Chambers, and Justin Achilli
Average review score:

Family Affairs
Finally we get the book that will tell the tale of the Necromancy Paths! If you, like many of us long-time Giovanni players wanted to understand what happened, this is the answer! A fine sourcebook to both players and storytellers, a must-have!

Insular Necromancers Reviewed
The revised version of Clanbok: Giovanni is truly impressive. It's very well written and the graphic part is algo good. It contains a in-depht history of the Clan (since the Roman Empire, when their name wasn't Giovanni yet) like the previous version, and much information on the modern affairs. The lesser families (like the Dunsirn and the Pisanob) are explained with much more detail than it was in the previous version of this book. There's also more and new information on the Endless Night, and be prepared: it's shocking news!

It features much more interesting character templates (not just the generic "necromancer-business men" like before), including a Dunsirn and a Pisanob. The only thing that's missing is any follower from the Path (of Enlightment) of Bones, however. There are however revised rules for using Necromancy in the times of the Maelstrom, as well as new Necromancy Rituals, Pisanob Necromancy Rituals and mechanics, and a new Path for Ghilberti Necromancers. It also features rules for using Wraiths and Spectres without the need for Wraith: The Oblivion, a new Background and really interesting Merits and Flaws. All the rules also described in the MET system.

The previous book was a blast, and this one it much, MUCH better. A must buy, whether you're a Giovanni player or not. It's succesful in its task to provide in-depth and accurate information as well as picture how inhuman, dark and complex the Giovanni are.

Harry Potter en francais worth the read...
Ok, I have been a Harry Potter fan since I read the English version, so I decided to try my luck at the French version, as French is another one of my favorite hobbies. Now, I am only a second year French student, but I could understand quite a bit of the story, and it really is fun to read. I would definitely suggest to all my fellow French-speakers out there, who happen to love Harry Potter or only want to see what the craze is all about, to try the French series. It's fun and helps you learn French! And for those that are familar with the English version, I would suggest getting a translation sheet from the Internet, because some of the names have been changed, and they are found through search engines and are free! Just try this, good luck and enjoy!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
J.K. Rowling's novel, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth book in the series. Each novel revolves around Harry Potter and his life as he goes through wizard school. Although it makes this book more interesting it is not necessary to read the previous books in the series in order to comprehend this book. Rowling writes in a fashion that provides adequate information, allowing the book to stand alone.
The novel opens by telling about the mysterious death of a family, the Riddles. The suspect was the house caretaker,Frank, but nothing was ever proven. Despite the fact that the house is empty Frank still maintains it and one evening he sees something odd occuring in the house. He goes inside and encounters Lord Voldemort and Wormtail. Voldemort is the enemy of Harry Potter and is out to get him. From this point on Voldemort and his accomplice set out on the mission to capture Harry Potter and destroy him after they get what they need from him. Harry Potter is an extraordinary wizard and has previously defeated Lord Voldemort, and now he seeks revenge. The plot covers every event in Harry's fourth year at Hogwart's School of Wizardry and finally a battle between Harry and Lord Voldemort, which makes for an exciting ending.
Rowling's style of writing is so entertaining and fun , that any age reader can enjoy it. Even though the characters are imaginary, Rowling brings Harry and the others to life in her novel. I would recommend this novel to anyone. It is a great read and will definitely hold your attention.

Custody of the State (Chambers of Justice)
Published in Paperback by Harvest House Publishers, Inc. (March, 2003)
Author: Craig Parshall
Average review score:

Another Adventure with Will Chambers
Custody of the State is another interesting story that will keep readers pondering lifes big questions. Why do bad things happen to seemingly innocent people? Why does God allow corruption and deceit and how can people of faith trust God in troubled times?

Will Chambers, the main character in this story, once again offers the reader a picture of perfectly flawed humanity. It is hard to not love this character - and yet at the same time wonder how he doesn't suffer from some mental disorder! The guy is amazing...his ability to endure suffering, his innocence in certain situations and wisdom like a child in others.

The story itself is captivating and hearttugging at the same time. However, in my opinion Mr. Parshall's first book The Resurrection File was a tiny bit better. Custody falls just a little short of what I believe Parshall can produce. In Parshall's first book the characters were more solid whereas in Custody a few of the "supporting cast" didn't really have the punch that the first book carried. A few of the storylines in Custody were also not really needed and I think added a little more clutter to the story then needed to be. So because of this I'm rating this book - of the 3 other Parshall books I've read previously a 4.

However, even with a rating of 4 I still highly recommend this book because the court room scenes and airplane ride storyline is worth it!

Great read!
Struggling new Christian Will Chambers finds his faith tested in this second installment of the series. The state is after a young mother for allegedly poisoning her child. Fearing that she will lose the child and that the boy will die as the result of an undiagnosed condition, she flees, leaving her husband to face the consequences. Will reluctantly takes her case, having to fight all the way to save this family, and a baby's life. Not only is he spiritually challenged, but faces beatings and prison to do what is right.

Will's personal life is also in a muddle. His new love, Fiona's, career separates them often, and though he wants to marry her, the timing is just never right. Along for the ride are the other characters you met and loved in the last book; Jacki, his secretary, and even Tiny.

***** Christians who want a legal thriller on the order of Turrow or Grisham, but without sordid details, will find their answer here. Will Chambers is an excellent hero, one easily identified with as he struggles along in his journey. He is flawed and questioning, much like most readers, and will be someone with whom even non Christians can find a common chord. In fact, seeing his struggle to faith might win a few converts.

Distributed Generation: A Nontechnical Guide
Published in Hardcover by Pennwell Pub (15 February, 2001)
Authors: Ann Chambers, Barry Schnoor, and Stephanie Hamilton
Average review score:

Energizing...
Chambers, Schnoor and Hamilton have put together a concise non-technical book on some very technical issues.

Their research is detailed, accurate and extensive. The book is well written.

In these days of rapid change in power generation technology, this book will be outdated within 10 years, though the issues raised here will not be.

Regardless, it's a great read full of great information on a subject that is important to us all.

Thorough, Completely Clear Presentation of the Sector
This book by Ann Chambers depicts the growing Distributed Generation Energy industry with an impressive and wide-ranging command of the facts but with little in the way of hard-to-understand "under the hood" technical lingo. Effects of this burgeoning technology is documented for both the national and international markets; case studies describe the relative successes of DG installation. I cannot think of a better way to start -- as a company owner, as an investor, as a policymaker -- to begin than with this book.

The Dream of the Red Chamber: Hung Lou Meng
Published in Hardcover by Greenwood Press Reprint (08 July, 1975)
Author: Chan Ts'ao
Average review score:

Famous Chinese Novel
A Dream of the Red Chamber is a wonderful novel that tells the story of a large, wealthy family amd their tragic decline. It is one of the most famous chinese novels ever written and allows the reader to learn a lot about the Chinese culture and life.

A great translation of a great book
I have read several versions of "The Dream of the Red Chamber", including the five-volume edition published by Penguin Classics ("The Story of the Stone"), and this version is by far the best. It's been out of print for several years and I'm delighted it's been reissued. It's concise, omits nothing of importance to the story, and it's a great read. "Red Chamber" is the story of the Chia clan, a large and very rich Mandarin family, racing headlong into financial and moral ruin, which is redeemed by the youngest son of the house, the spoiled and effeminate Pao Yu. Heading the family is the Princess Ancestress, one of the most arresting and interesting characters of any literature, able to stand up to and hold her own against anyone. Other strong figures in the family are Pao Yu's father, Chia Cheng, a stern, upright, moralistic individual, unable to see past his own nose, and his aunt Phoenix, too shrewd and clever for her own good, whose intrigues and double-dealing bring the house crashing down. The tale of ruin and redemption is an old one in Chinese literature, and "Red Chamber" relates it excellently, all the while giving us fascinating insights into Chinese life, culture and values. For anyone interested in things Chinese, or anyone who just appreciates a great book, this book is a must-read.

E-Support: How Cisco Systems Saves Millions While Improving Customer Support
Published in Paperback by Cisco Press (26 August, 2002)
Authors: Andrew Connan, Vincent Russell, Vince Russell, and John Chambers
Average review score:

Insider View of Web Support Content
Structured as a series of interviews with the key players behind TAC Web: -- the senior director, project managers, technical writers, and site manager - the book is laced with e-support terminology as well as high-tech colloquialisms (e.g., bleeding edge appears frequently). The interviews themselves convey a sense of intimacy; you feel as if you're sitting in a meeting with all of Cisco's e-Support teams, getting an interior view of how their organization is structured and what methods they use. For example, you learn that Cisco has dedicated technical writers within the support teams to transform customer issues into meaningful support content. Also, a bonus of the interview format is that it allowed the book's designer to leverage white space effectively, alleviating the feeling of density that sometimes characterizes a text-heavy book.

The target audience for this book is CEOs and Senior VPs seeking to either implement an e-Support solution or improve an existing one. Of particular interest to these execs is the chapter on metrics, which provides graphics and sample charts showing the kinds of metrics Cisco relies on. (Walker Information regularly surveys Cisco customers regarding the TAC Web site content). It examines the greatest challenges involved in acting on these metrics, as well as what metrics are meaningful and where they come from. For example, Cisco measures what technical articles customers access most frequently so that their tech support team can proactively get that information to customers in a more direct form - either via e-mail messages or by making the content more visible on the TAC Web. Cisco also measures customer satisfaction with the technical content on the Web site, so that they can improve its effectiveness and accessibility..

As for the book itself, it has one big weakness: It is not a blueprint. Although it provides a useful peek inside a successful e-Support implementation, it does not offer a step-by-step method for creating a comparable system for your company or for "saving millions" with your own e-Support solution. The authors could have done a better job of setting appropriate expectations in an Introduction explaining the book's scope and goals or by writing a Conclusion that summed up the interviews. Also, they really don't talk about how the Cisco e-Support model might translate to other companies. Will it scale down for companies that don't have the resources to assemble a marketing team devoted exclusively to e-Support or a team of writers and editors to gather and shape content from support engineers?

An informative presentation of the E-support system
Collaboratively written by Cisco experts Andrew Connan and Vincent Russell, E-Support: How Cisco Systems Saves Millions While Improving Customer Support is an intrinsically fascinating, informed and informative presentation of the E-support system -- a self-service, web-based means of providing help and support to customers that is much less costly than traditional telephone-based support services. A thorough and "reader friendly" guide to what e-support is, and how it can benefit the conduct of business (especially focusing upon the e-support network created by Cisco Systems), E-Support is very highly recommended reading and directly applicable to understanding and developing an e-support corporate marketing strategy.

Intermediate Spanish Workbook (Workbook Series , Level 2)

Spanish- For Spanish Speakers
20ish Latin American - trying to better her Spanish- As some may agree with me, that growing up in the US, speaking Spanish through the years was only with family and Spanish speaking Friends. In many cases would end up finishing sentences in English & perhaps speak Spanish incorrectly, trying to say words in Spanish that didn't exsist due to not knowing the correct word(s)& would try to use an English word, transform it into a Spanish or better said Spanglish word or you simply just picked up other madeup words from other people and that stuck to you?? Well, this workbook is great for someone like me(you), who can read Spanish and somewhat write it. but needs help in grammer, and pronunciation .. One down fall that I did not like was that your directions in the book were presented (written) to you in English. But all in all it is a great book to start for "Spanish- for Spanish speakers"..

Great book!
looking to polish off your Spanish? This one is amazing, with this and the Basic Workbook, you will have a vocabulary of about 3,000!

Lama: A Novel of Tibet
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill (June, 1986)

Average review score:

Enjoyable, insightful account of the uprising Tibet '56-'59
An insightful and enjoyable account of the happening in Tibet '56-'59 seen from the eyes of a lama named Tsun. This book is great to read, the characters are so lifelike it feels like the reader knows Tsun after the first 20 pages. I found the end a bit blunt, but maybe I didn't want it to end. Worthwhile to read even if you are not interested in Tibet.

Great Testament of Tibet
This graphic account of the Chinese invasion of Tibet ,and the cruel crushing of an ancient and beautiful nation,is an incredible testament to the indomitable human spirit You'll grow to know the character, laugh and weep It also gives great insight into Tibetan and Buddhist thought
